About Precinct Groups

Hilton Precinct is a community group based in Hilton, a suburb of the City of Fremantle. Originally established by the City of Fremantle, Hilton Precinct provides a platform for local residents to share information, engage with one another, and discuss important community issues.

As a precinct group, Hilton Precinct is part of a wider network of community-led groups that support information sharing and engagement on local matters. These groups are run by community members who gather regularly in open forum meetings, where any local resident is welcome to attend and contribute. The aim is to provide opportunities for residents to get involved, voice their ideas, and have an active role in shaping the community. Many precinct groups also organise fun activities to help build stronger local connections.

The City of Fremantle supports these precinct groups as part of its open and consultative approach to local government, encouraging residents to actively participate and provide input on local issues.

Hilton Precinct is one of 11 precinct groups recognised by the City of Fremantle, each serving as a space for the community to come together and influence the future of their neighbourhood.

Hilton Precinct

The Hilton Precinct is a dedicated group of volunteers who contribute their time and effort to various community interests. Our members participate as much or as little as their schedules allow, ensuring everyone has the flexibility to engage in a way that works for them.

Currently, Emma Livesey serves as the convenor and acts as a facilitator, ensuring the smooth operation of the group and connecting the community with the City of Fremantle.

Hilton Precinct thrives on the collective effort of all involved, not individual recognition.

Hilton Precinct: 2025 Active Citizenship Award Winners

Citizens of the Year.jpg

In 2025, Hilton Precinct was honoured with the Active Citizenship Award at the Community Citizen of the Year Awards. This recognition celebrated the incredible work of local volunteers and residents in building a more connected, engaged, and vibrant community.

The nomination came after less than a year of working together, and in that short time, we achieved incredible goals, including:

  • Hosting community events that brought neighbours together

  • Coordinating verge makeovers to enhance our local environment

  • Securing funding for traffic calming measures and public art projects

Hilton Precinct convener Emma Livesey reflected on the journey:
"None of us knew each other a year ago. To see what we've achieved and how close we've become in just 12 months is incredible." Fellow convener Dani Melo shared,
"Community connection is the number one objective—getting to know our neighbours. We’ve created opportunities for families, elderly residents, and people from all corners of our community to come together, strengthening intergenerational connections."

We are incredibly grateful to all our volunteers, supporters, and residents who contributed their time and energy to making Hilton a better place. This award was not just a recognition of our work but also a motivation to continue fostering a thriving and engaged local community.

We also extend our congratulations to the other award recipients in 2025, including:

  • Rosslyn de Souza – Community Citizen of the Year for her contributions to the Fremantle arts scene

  • Robert Chapman – Senior Citizen of the Year for his dedicated volunteer work

  • Rosie Shute – Young Citizen of the Year for her efforts in creating inclusive spaces through poetry

  • Clive Morrison – Sealin Garlett Award recipient for his inspiring commitment to supporting others

This achievement was just the beginning. Hilton Precinct remains committed to creating positive change, strengthening community ties, and continuing the work that made this award possible.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen!
